WAYFINDER

Steel, 2024

The images of railroad tracks disappearing into the distance represent the optimism and hope of the American West. The tracks symbolize progress, growth, and the opening of new frontiers. WAYFINDER is a railroad track that connects us to the infinite. This unique sculpture is a new type of impossible object and meaningful site-specific illusion. It provides the Del Rio Trail with a tangible icon of infinite potential.

Adam Frank

Adam Frank's body of work represents an ongoing investigation of light, interactivity, and our perception of nature. Each installation is a unique, site-specific artwork and technological innovation. His work is designed to maximize inclusivity.

His interactive installations in municipal parks are welcoming gathering spaces for the local community. STREAM, at the San Antonio Riverwalk, merges the sounds and music created by the San Antonio community with the flow of the San Pedro Creek, and transforms a 250 foot waterfall into a monumental, live sound visualizer. A bronze cast replica of a 1940s standup microphone is installed next to the creek and visitors can make any noise they like into the mic. The installation turns all these sounds into a dynamic light show in real time.

His work honors and activates sites and their histories. ECHO, his permanent new media installation for the City of San Diego is located in Presidio Park, the site of California’s first mission and a sacred place for indigenous Kumeyaay people. Made in collaboration with Kumeyaay singers, ECHO uses a new type of 3D audio to represent the voices of native people on this vitally important historical site.
