Christina Preston: Del Rio Trail: The History Along the Tracks

As a public historian, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the residents in and around the Del Rio Trail virtually and in person! Last month, I had the privilege of interviewing Susan Lena. We met in Marina Park and discussed her memories growing up as a child along the tracks. I recorded and transcribed her interview and will add it to the history document and the timeline I am creating for the gallery. Her memories included hearing the lions roar from the Zoo and using cardboard to slide down the banks along the side of the tracks to watch the planes take off from Jenkins Aviation. Much of the conversation was focused on the rural nature of the area back in the 60s and 70s, the nature and farmland in the area, and discussions of landmarks.
